BIO

Silvina Landsmann is a Tel Aviv-based documentary filmmaker whose cinematographic method is based on observation and listening. Combined with a social perspective, her films provide a window into Israel's tumultuous reality.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires in 1965, she immigrated to Israel as a child with her family, escaping the Argentine military regime.

After completing her studies at the Tel Aviv University Cinema Department, she moved to Paris, where she worked in documentary film and fictional films in a variety of roles. Her first film, Collège (France, 1998), was awarded the Grand Prix at Les Ecrans Documentaires Film Festival.

 

Back in Israel, Silvina founded Comino Films in order to produce and direct her award winning films: Post Partum (Broadcasted at Channel 8, 2005); Unto thy Land (Grand Prix des Ateliers d'Art de France 2007); Soldier/Citizen (Berlinale 2012 - Special Mention); Hotline (Berlinale 2015; Best Documentary Award at the 2015 Jerusalem Film Festival).

 

The Good Soldier (2021) premiered at the Docaviv Film Festival - Tel Aviv.

Dokleipzig (Germany, 2021). Woodstock International Film Festival (USA, 2022).

Broadcasted by YES doco, Israel. Released in cinemas across Germany.
